Wendee Concepcion ’26

Wendee Concepcion is the latest recipient of the Father Bienvenido Nebres, S.J. Scholarship made possible by Catherine and Fernando Zobel de Ayala, P ’19, P ’25.

Learning within a diverse cohort cultivated not only a professional network but also treasured friendships. This profound exposure and engagement expanded her understanding of health inequities and deepened her commitment to context-sensitive and sustainable solutions.

She put her acquired competencies into practice for her field research module in the Philippines to contribute to meaningful national-level surveillance and health systems planning.

As a medical professor in the Philippines, she credits the MSGH as pivotally shifting her teaching perspective toward a multidisciplinary approach to global health emphasizing equity, prevention, and systems-level thinking. Inspired by program faculty as global health leaders, she credits their dedicated mentorship as a model to carry forward at her university.

She is preparing for a Family Medicine residency focus ing on global health, preventive medicine, and longevity science toward contributing to national health reforms. She cited Georgetown’s wonderful community as essential support that nurtured her courage to think beyond clinical practice.

With deep gratitude for the scholarship and Georgetown, she is committed to mentoring future physicians who excel clinically and practice health equity, policy engagement, research in underserved communities, and advance evidence-based health systems reforms.
