Faculty and Students Honor Retiring Faculty Member
Posted in News Story
Last week, the Department held a reception to honor Dr. Michael Engelgau, who is retiring from his position at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Dr. Engelgau has co-taught (alongside Dr. Eva Jarawan) an elective course on Combatting Non-Communicable Diseases in Developing Countries: Challenges and Strategies.
Dr. Engelgau expressed his gratitude to the Department for the opportunity to teach bright students who are embarking on a career in global public health. He especially enjoyed watching them gain confidence and familiarity with the subject matter.
After enjoying some Chinese food, the students went to class, where they had to give presentations!
