We are pleased to share that Dr. Victor Mohan, MSGH ‘20 has received the Exceptional Master’s Student Award for the Sciences at Georgetown’s fifth annual Graduate Student Awards Ceremony.  This is the program’s second recipient, after Mark Lee, MSGH ‘17, earned the award in 2018.

In addition to his exemplary academic performance in the program, Victor served as a Graduate Assistant and volunteer tutor.  He completed the field research module in Dodowa, Ghana, focusing on volunteer motivations in the country’s community-based health planning and services.  Beyond his coursework, Victor used his limited free time as a graduate student to launch a non-governmental organization, ReachLives, that benefits health and nutrition needs in over 20 communities in his native India. In just eight months, ReachLives accrued over $140,000 in revenue and has fostered partnerships with over 500 individual volunteers.

A significant focus of Victor’s NGO is delivering vaccinations to children.  Recent vaccination drives required him to leverage the skills that he developed in the program to engage with the Indian Ministry of Health as well as drug companies.  In this way, Victor is living out his global health coursework in full alignment with Georgetown’s social justice mission.

Congratulations, Victor!
